Frequently Asked Questions

A collection of our most frequently asked questions (and their answers).

Why is underlay so important?

A good underlay is as important as having a good carpet, it reduces the impact of footfall so can increase the life of your carpet by reducing the flattening of your carpet. A good underlay should also help reduce your heating bill and can also provide differing levels of soundproofing. We predominantly recommend two types of quality underlay, however we have access to various different brands and styles.

Do I need to replace my underlay?

We suggest that if an existing underlay has been down for 7-10 years, then you should expect to look to have to replace it. When our fitter comes to measure your property he will assess your underlay and make his recommendation.

Do I need to move my furniture?

Ideally we would expect all rooms that are having new flooring to be clear and ready for fitting. However, we do appreciate that this is not always possible with some pieces of furniture. Should we be required to help with the moving of furniture, there will be a cost added to your quotation. If we have to move the furniture on the day without prior knowledge, then an additional cost will be added to your final invoice. Under no circumstances do our fitters move smaller items such as ornaments, pictures or books etc.

Do you fit carpets?

We only provide a fitting service for carpets, vinyl, laminate or LVT that has been purchased from this shop. We do not provide a fitting only service.

Do you uplift and dispose of my existing flooring?

We do provide an uplift and dispose service at a cost. Depending on the existing flooring, and subfloor, this can vary in cost due to the labour required and the cost to us of disposal. This will need to be assessed by our fitter when measuring and will be included in your quotation.

What should I consider when choosing a carpet?

You must consider the level of traffic that the carpet will have. In a high traffic area, a more durable carpet should be considered. A strong Stainfree carpet should be considered if you have pets or young children in the property.

What sizes do your carpets come in?

The vast majority of carpets have a minimum order width of 4m or 5m. We will always ensure that we get the most efficient and effective utilization of these sizes to provide you with as little waste as possible.

Do you sell offcuts or remnants?

Yes, we do periodically have offcuts or remnants available in store. Various different sizes would be available for a single room or bound for a carpet rug.

What are your lead-times for new flooring?

This can vary depending on stock availability, delivery lead-times and our fitter availability. Typically we quote approx. 2-3 weeks for carpet and vinyl, and 3-4 weeks for laminate and LVT. There are peak periods throughout the year where these lead times can vary, however please just ask our friendly staff.
